Antanas Jasenka is a longtime composer in the field of experimental electronica. After his Sonic Machine (NTT036), which got released on Entity 3 years ago, he has now put a new work at your disposal. The evolution in both sound and atmosphere is blatantly obvious, and i think it's fair to say that Antanas has really outdone himself this time.
"Metal Alloy" consists of 5 expansive tracks, each featuring exquisite sound design, while exhibiting a high degree of control and emotional depth. The bass tones in this one are incredibly smooth and soothing, the fine modulated ambience is sharp like metal, yet never overly intrusive.
Highly recommended!
Bushmen Records' first release comes in the form of days of night by The X-Structure. It's a trip and hop through emotions and discoveries, dark days and late nights. The opening track, crossing the rubicon, is a modern retelling of the age old moment of taking the plunge into the unknown, where danger is ever lurking but success is ever sweet. The beat is up tempo and the bass down low, opening up the album for a journey of moments both high and low. The tracks to follow are all unique in their way with the titles of songs again describing the essence of the song. It is philosophical with streaks of self discovery and dreams of universal grandeur. The final track, wildheart, marks the end of this season of nightowl's life and the beginning of another adventure for him with The X-Structure.
"The Brittle Ballet" is the new work from Etienne Michelet, a french composer and musician in the fields of minimal, classical and experimental music, wellknown for his "Calendaires"-series (released on Four Directional Doubt, frozen elephants and Resting Bell), the "Tombs for Anatole" (released via la nouvelle degelee) and various other releases.
"The Brittle Ballet" contains eleven miniature pieces with a compete duration of 14 minutes.
All pieces are very minimal and calm, like fragile sketches. The first six parts are very playful, envolving beautiful new melodies in every miniature. The seventh part marks a kind of intermission with a meditative percussive interlude, ending up in part eight, more dominated by sustained string-sounds, and part nine, picking up the melody-motive from the first parts like a reprise.
The "Ballet" ends with two long and droning pieces, guiding the listener home after a short walk through memories from long ago.
With KAUSALNEXUS Sandro Kaiser alias FREQUENCY IN CYCLES PER SECOND and PHARMAKUSTIK (Siegmar Fricke) have generated an album that redefines abandoned ambiences in a new style far beyond existing stereotypes. Their intense mutual approach is manifesting in eight mathematically precise acoustic studies on the pathway between cause and effect. Paralytic drone-frequencies merge with necrotic voice-particles; completely dismembered by triggered bit-reduction and combined with slowly evolving mindloops from "theesonicabyss". Supranuclear radiations are the dominant factor within these pathophysiological pulsations. The deep acoustic anesthetics, embedded in sterilized waveform-antisepsis, lead to a new para-sagittal experience and finally to a different form of physical nociception during listening. KAUSALNEXUS is the neurochemical contra-response to the clichés of drone-textures until today: 61 minutes of ultrasound by magnetic resonance.
Mastering and visual concept by Sandro Kaiser.
