XYDZO - Y (Pulsations For You, puls09)

Y is perfect fusion of ethnic instruments with electronics. Y is some other sight, a sight under other corner. There is no feeling, that the author speaks from a stage with a hall. More likely, it is a sight from within, it is a voice of the nature, noise of the Karelian taiga, the sun of Africa, a pulsation of polar light and, simultaneously, silence and infinity.

RB028 - Off Land - Encounter Point

Off Land is an ambient project by Tim Dwyer. With ambient textures, little field recording snippets, spoken word phrases and classical instruments, Off Land takes place in the space between minimal, ambient and contemporary classical music.

With 8 pieces and 75 minutes duration, "Encounter Point" is a monumental ambient work. All pieces are arranged very carefully and with a great sense for intensity and tension. The single tracks seem quite minimal and pure on the surface, but when you listen carefully, you can hear layers of different sound sources. There are outdoor-field recording parts, layered with soft keyboard patterns that fade into a slight beat, combined with a shy guitar melody. Every layer is like a unique story line through the complete work.

It's a great acoustic quality when you’ve a huge depth of multiple sounds in the composition which don't crush you, but instead give you the possibility to explore more and more with each listening.

[Cam101] Nigel Samways - Mestre fullstrop

Our first release of 2008 comes from UK's Nigel Samways. Mestre fullstop is 20 minutes of marvelously intricate movements; deep, murmuring field recordings, dischordant crackles and faint mechanical remnances lay naturally underneath bright, gazing wails and pads that trickle gently down on us, inviting us to venture into Nigel Samways' mysterious and blurry tones, memories and images. After such a winter, this is the perfect soundtrack to the slow and creeping growth and reanimation of the fauna.

hp.stonji - Piano Expeditions EP [aa01]

Hans Platzgumer and Jens Döring are hp.stonji. So far they've been known from their albums on Zurich's Spezialmaterial and the Viennese label Konkord, as well as from their countless other projects (solo or with others, e.g. Cube & Sphere, hp.zinker, Queen of Japan, e.stonji). hp.stonji's music is an organic blueprint of the music called electronica. But it might as well be fat and dirty. Autark's prologue "Piano Expeditions" is a journey into the atmospheric deeps of modern ambient music as cold and warm it can be.

Tunguska by 833-45 on Musica Excentrica

If your familiar with the music of Kevin M. Krebs composing under is 833-45 alias, then I think that you'll agree that Tunguska might just be his most compelling work to date under that guise. Just the association of the names 833-45 and Tunguska is suggestive of the sonic power inherent to this album. On the one hand, we have 833-45 delivering his own formidable take on electronic music and the noise aesthetic, but along with that we have the powerful image of the well documented 1908 Tunguska Event in which a massive explosion (possibly caused by the air burst of large meteoroid or comet fragment) flattened over 2000 square kilometers of a remote region in Russia.
