"entia non" is the project moniker of Australian artist James McDougall. After great releases at u-cover (zero comma zero, inter alia) and test tube (distal) he comes uo with his first release "sub routine" on Resting Bell.
The four tracks, deeply affected by the Australian landscape (South East Queensland), are very subtle, just like putting your ears on the ground of an animated, busy grassland. Little glitches grawling around like insects, soft wind flurries playing in the long green grass. Then you hear distant shreds of melodies, waving through the air, on the last day of your summer holidays.
If you live on the northern hemisphere, you can close your eyes and let in some memories of the last golden sunbeams. On the southern hemisphere, you can sit on the porch and enjoy the warm season with this gentle and touching pieces.
'Die Arbeitsgemeinschaft für zeitgemäßen Blickfang' is the newest Artist on Zufall AUfnahmen and this is their latest release. Incorrect re-created musical debris, the skeleton of other folk's music or a half forgotten melody arranged to personal preferences, better known as "composition".
'Study for Autumn' was made in the Fall of 2006 and presents itself as one of Asher's more melodic works. It was created from basic workings involving piano, brass bells and field recordings of the seasonal fall winds blowing through the trees. Amidst the static interchanges, we find a prelude to winter long past and, perhaps, a time never forgotten; left somewhere frozen in the dust that memory leaves behind.
Our newest release is upon us. Lucid Reflections, brings us his 6 track ep 'Bevroren Maanden'. Hailing from the Netherlands, Lucid Reflections brings us some nice, dreamy and glitched out ambient. Bevroren Maanden sounds like a soundtrack for an as-of-yet unmade film; bringing beatiful organic elements in and out of the harder edge of minimal beats and clicks. "Bevroren Maanden" is Dutch for "Frozen Months," and this release is completely influenced by the winter months. Elegant atmospheres and intricate rhythms combine into chilly, beautiful soundscapes.
"Each piece begins with a small collection of sounds which are processed and manipulated in real time through improvisation, the software I use doesn’t allow for ‘work in progress’ to be saved and so only the final recording survives to document each improvisation. Using multiple loops and controlling the frequency and nature of their playback/interaction I aim to arrive at a point where the sounds 'are playing themselves’, like a malfunctioning automata, always close to breakdown. Once the record button is pressed I intervene as little as necessary, each piece becoming a snapshot of the improvisation, a slice of perpetual soundscape."
