Stephen Walter isn't a new name for zymogen listeners as we already heard his collaboration with David Velez aka Lezrod on Data Transfer (zym007). In that track ("Ramute") there were evident recalls of his past works, in fact Stephen (under the monicker SW) had produced two idm gems for Retropublik some years ago, but since then nothing came out...until Monocline, a complete change of direction. This album has a solid concept behind it, explained by the title; monocline is a term to indicate "a geologic structure in which all layers are inclined in the same direction". These tracks could be interpreted as these different layers which match up in the monocline fold...composed with different simple elements, at last, are a totality of abstract substance. Music floats as a "unicum" and simply shifts, track after track, into various basic components: melody, deep silences, found sounds and pure sine waves. "Newheart", "Before your Eyes" and "Rising" are emotive tracks built on warm pads moving through melodies in a complete absence of rhythm, very simple formula though, but the care which Stephen used to compose these melodies makes this simplicity something special. The other side of the album is darker and more introspective: subtle piano notes sound in "Tone", random choir samples are matched with mechanical silences during "Green Shift", while "Section 1" and "Section 2" play with radio recordings and distant echoes of synthetic melodies. The concept of the album will be cleared up only at the end, as every plane will collide in "Rising" and only one feeling will remain...serenity, the ideal monocline fold of everyone's life.
This new sound output [seroton] of sascha neudeck (biochemist and musician, based in vienna) is to carry out a test by the idea of different drone-interpretations. It is more a collection of different quotations in doing with such these topics. The result is quite different to his previous work, which was more noise- and random-oriented. This new section is quite a try to arrange such these things - from totally abstract elements to poetic narrative parts. Different ideas come out from an abstractness and get into an often sparely melodic part - otherwise a changeover from the lightness of sound into a deep and noise drone, which is interrupted by fragement spikes of sound. Neudeck is working only with software, sinus generators, self produced soundequipment and lately with the sidrassi organ (totally crazy tool). So I am often surprised by the result, when it sounds like a field recording. But when I see, how he works in his nerdy laboratory, I understand that his output can irritate. mOOdSpLAteau released "Valkoinen Yliäänitaikuriit" of our finnish musician Raztaman - pure Raztaman sound.
What does "Valkoinen Yliäänitaikuriit" mean? Translated in English it means "white overtone magician" and our Raztaman is according that to mayan horoscopes. It comes from the exact date you're born.
"Valkoinen Yliäänitaikuriit" was recorded as live performances by Timo ‘Raztaman’ Laulajainen made with Roland MC303 groovebox, Quasimidi´s MC309, Novation Nova and Greg Bennett acoustic Guitar. Most speeches by Lorenzo (www.matrixmasters.com), they were added later.
Inspirited by the industrials fathers (SPK, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Einsturzende Neubauten, etc) and by the new power noise electronics (Merzbow, Converter, Hypnoskull, etc), their sound is disturbing and rhythmic at the same time. The hate / love for the sister television is the central theme of D.S.Tv.
Deep, dark, all consuming immaginary atmospheres which destroing a fragile man lost in a dreaming and foggy paradise. Thousand of thoughts and voices flow across the eyes and the ears of a soul haunted and lost in its oblivion. Classic dark ambient elements as bells, low frequency drone, orchestral instruments meet industrial, glitch, cyclic metal sounds, create one of best Benekkea release of ever.
The new Kurzwellen micro-netlabel is dedicated to ambient, minimalism, field recordings, audio environments, sound design, and any kind of experimental audio recordings. Our first release is a nice collection of ambient pieces from Pocka. Each piece is a section of ambient loops, with the idea of being pure ambience: something to listen to in the background, and best at low volumes. These tracks encourage repeat and shuffled listening situations.
At its core, “Holzlaub” is a blend of sampled classical-style guitar sounds (and other chance noises) as improvised by Raimund along with the deliberate sharing and processing of these samples via synchronized PowerBooks where intuition and feelings were important ingredients. In addition, the congenial atmosphere of Raimund’s apartment in which most of these songs were conceived and took their final form, is sure to have contributed to the organic ambiance that is clearly prevalent.
