Porcelain in the backpack is Marcus Held from Leipzig, Germany, and we are glad to release 'Sand and Loam', a six track ep, which is his very first release. His particular approach to making music involves taking sounds from an array of sources, particularly acoustic instruments. The composition process which follows involves a kind of granular synthesis, whereby he creates a unique flow of organic and nearly tangible sound. Tracks like 'The Burrowbuilder Comes Home' and 'The Branch was High and the Way was Long' are perfect examples of this, as melodies are lost in waves of overlapping sound. Sand and loam is another moving piece of work, both evocative and haunting. Each track seems to tell a nostalgic story of the past, with some deep seeded melancholic significance, that the listener is never meant to let go of or forget.
french artist JKP is back on track with a new mind-guzzling chip release. in the almost 2 years that have been passed since his lobit debut, he appeared on labels like Mekkanikal Industries, Audioactivity, Cannibal Caniche and Abyssa. 4 short but intense harsh video game noise and bit pop power electronic tracks waiting for you!
Stefan Kushima is a young artist from Linz, Austria. He comes up with a great release consisting of three drone-pieces. Two short pieces "Loreley" (2 min.) and "Balaklava Rust" (6 min.) embrace the monumental 25-minute-opus "Crumble Stray".
Multiple warm and vibrant sound-patterns are layered together to a impressive wall of sound. Like a big wave sounds swell to a climax, implode and ebb away into a more calm and gloomy maelstrom of various sonic sources to swell again, again and again.
All parts of this puzzle based on repetitive guitar figures, violin patterns or other self-built instruments which gives the whole release this unique warm, natural and hand-made touch.
Let there be noise!
The active guys from the Modul-group surprised us one day with a small Remix-Action, whose results create a space of meeting artists from east and west. With us are some new names and impressions as well as interpretations by well-known artists like Madstyle and Anaxy. The original track was already released under Creative Commons License at zhe russian Electrosound Netlabel. Cutting Edge (http://www.electrosound.ru/releases/es24) Along with the Remix-release a futuristic artwork appears, which seems to be in mind with El Lissitzky's early works. Who likes this artwork a lot can contact the graphic artist for a lowcost poster-version.
Fun lil' melodies, fun lil' beats, for fun lil' people. Presented in stunning high definition alphabetical order for your listening enjoyment. The usual hodgepodge of genres clash to make something that isn't quite downtempo, ambient, techno, or idm, but a little sprinkling of all the above. You all look so beautiful when you smile.
It is always a pleasure to introduce a new name to the site, and Konntinent is no exception. Hailing from London, Konntinent, also known as Antony Harrison, arrives in true style with his offering 'All lines lead in' - a four track EP of hauntingly beautiful soundscapes. 'All lines lead in' is a wholly remarkable EP, particularly striking is Konntinent's ability to weave a story into his music - the EP conveys a very definite feeling of beginning, middle and end, visiting upon eerie and unsettling amalgams of strings and field recordings, to incredibly delicate melodies picked out on guitar. The tracks build out of static and lost radio frequencies into shimmering, hazy pieces of blissful music, hanging in the air like some delicate mist before disappearing on the next wave of hum and white noise. On repeated listens, it is fascinating how quickly Konntinent's own unique sound becomes apparent - music that is seemingly familiar quickly establishes itself as being very unique. The more you listen the more there is to uncover, and that for me makes this a true gem, not to be overlooked.
