Planetarium Records [Lab118] Nigel Samways / Gazing of the Owl-God EP - experimental/drone new release

This is the first in a series of EPs by Nigel Samways under the Gazing of the Owl-God title. These charismatic and atmospheric musical episodes display a fondness for the arcane and obscure, filtered though degrees of pyschadelic sci-fi textural intensity. The music was created with extensive use of field recordings and much material is culled from improvisation and chance happenings, but great care has been taken with the editing and sonic reconstructions. Instruments and techniques used include an acoustic piano, woodwind, hand percussion, fleeting slide and acoustic guitar, analogue synthesizers, tv grabs, a phrase sampler and layers of cpu processing and assemblage. Should appeal to fans of Tim Hecker, Stimulus, Nurse with wound, Drone Records, Mego etc...

phoke41 : Skåpmat by Christian Björklund

The ep starts dubby in the beginning, made after his first visit at audioLAB (www.phonocake.org/audiolab) Dresden, where he came across. The track has recordings of a guest singer in it. Very smooth the ep continues to a more introverted but playful level and brings us to 2 pieces of SciFi-adventure-game-music, produced years ago for the game 'The Kore Gang'. 11 more of such tracks can be found on his CD on Bohnerwachs Tonträger. Head over to Suburban trash (http://suburbantrash.c8.com) for those.

Megaheadphoneboy - A Game of Numbers (Postunder Recs)

ID: puMpE022
Artist: Megaheadphoneboy
Title: A Game of Numbers
Date: May 2007 (mp3) November 2006 (cdr)
Format: 256kbps mp3 / Limited CDr
Length: 42:29

Tracklist:
1. megaheadphoneboy - motion 450 (6:57)
2. megaheadphoneboy - mission 134 (5:17)
3. megaheadphoneboy - 6/8 peace (4:29)
4. megaheadphoneboy - 7 weeks (6:29)
5. megaheadphoneboy - va 8 (4:51)
6. megaheadphoneboy - 10 month psych out (14:26)

After taking some time out to concentrate on Ordeograph, it was time to put together a new collection of Megaheadphoneboy material from the pile of not quite finished tracks that seems to pile up one every surface of the Beech Studio. This time the impetus was to have something new for friends at the Lab30 festival in Augsburg. Made up of more experimental works written simultaneously with material created specifically for improvisation on stage. All 29 CD-Rs were sold or given away and as one of the tracks has also been released as part of the FSOR debut compilation, it seems natural that Postunder should be the ones to give the album it's full netlabel release.

Starting with the whine of large electric motors and various other industrial sounds, the next three quarters of an hour will take the listener on a journey where the familiar and unusual will melt into one another around the structures of the drum machine. Like an adventure in the world of dreams, this album is best served in a comfortable place and at the end of the day when the mind can no longer concentrate on the exact. When the body is tired and before your appointment with the Sandman, get out those comfortable headphones, lie back, close your eyes and press play.

Kahvi #215: Blackberry / Selected Works

2007 is turning out to be a year for not only guest artists but very talented guest artists. blackberry is no exception with four of the most involving tracks to get into. Hailing from the former east germany, perhaps we have a little of the industrial roots appearing as an influence within his music. blackberry writes: - 'blackberry - a producer and sounddesigner from germany / dresden. he predominantly creates (unusual) electronic music beyond the mainstream in all its varieties: breakbeat, experimental, drum and bass, ambient (illbient) and much more is possible. no quantity - therefore: creativity, innovation and quality. this ep is focused on some fine selected works from floating ambient up to light-experimental downbeats.' Enjoy this work of arts from blackberry.

[tube075] c4 - The opulent lifestyle of dynomite sounds

«Halfway between Chicago and Toronto, right next to the 'Great Lakes' and in the outskirts of Detroit, lies the city of Toledo, nicknamed 'The Glass City' but also known as 'The Auto Parts Capital of the World'. That's were Mr. Adam Crammond works and lives. Taking most of his influences from the Detroit Techno scene, but also from the British Intelligent Dance Music - WARP style, Adam, under the guise of c4, crafts up nifty beats dipped in acid with sluggish techno-house style. Adam was pushed into making music back when we was a teenager, because of long nights he spent picking up Detroit radios, taping them up and amassing a huge collection of cassette recordings. As far as we know, his favorite artists (and his stronger influences) are Plastikman, Autechre, Venetian Snares, Kid 606, Aphex Twin, Dabrye, Jan Jelinek, Drop the Lime, Scant Intone, among others.
'The opulent lifestyle of dynomite sounds' sums up some of the best half-hours of 'old-school dance music from today' - we might call it - selected among two years of material Adam has been working on in his free time. This first c4 release of many to come (we hope) features varied styles ranging from semi-hard jungle - 'Polygons for purchase' - to electronic hip-hop - 'France beat (419)' - , going to ambient - 'Structure source' - , skipping over to minimal - 'Before rave class' - and exploding your speakers with acid-house - 'b130'. Without further delay, test tube proudly presents: c4!» - Pedro Leitão
