Va - Connected Dots. Connected Ideas (fe006)

Please welcome the latest and overall sixth release by the label and net-project Frozenelephantsmusic.com. /// Connected Dots Connected Ideas features a collection of 13 unique tracks by international sound-artists from Japan, the United States, France, the UK, Sweden and Germany. The compilation gathers various free improvised works and digital compositions, connecting swift moments of intuition with characteristics of jazz, minimalism and electro-acoustics. It outlines the growing diversity of current tendencies in music. New digital production-technologies and communication-models have caused a crisis of artistic values and altered traditional definitions of the creative process. Methods of improvisation in combination with a contemporary digital production are a response to heated debates of authenticity vs. reproduction and originality vs. plagiarism. The collection Connected Dots Connected Ideas has gathered a group of media-artists, jazz-musicians, sound-collectives and composers who are devoted with these ideas and approaches. /// The CD-release is limited to 300 copies and will be sold through the Frozenelephantsmusic.com website and record-shops. When sold out, all works will be available as free downloads. /// Release Date: March 20th 2007

Kahvi #208: Audio Cephlon / Callistemon

seems like spring is the time for short releases on kahvi collective, but that doesn't reflect on the quality of the merchandise. after the previous two track from nagz, next up an artist that seemed to vanish into the depths of the australian outback - audio cephlon. back with more of a polished sound, a vibe verging on the acid jazz (callistemon) or more beat driven delos. but for me, the ep is made by avarian dub - its got all the subtle little additions that make a track sparkle. enjoy the cool callistemon.

High & Low [buckram012] 3 song ep from Mylar Man out now!

Three unique songs from Mylar Man with full flavors for everyone. Depth Perception is a minimal house track with deep chords, soft pads and just the right amount of percussion to keep things moving along. More organ madness on the song Mistress Memoir, with subtley suggestive lyrics. The EP finishes with the mellowtastic melodies of Sunsets. Viva Mylar Man!

[es26] Astrowind: soviet synthesizers analog attack

Astrowind is a project of two sound-designers from Latvia: Kriipis Tulo (known by the Oloolo project) and Mahi Bukimi. Musicians plays vintage analog synthesizers and various effects, both Soviet and Japanese. Their first EP has been prepared from the materials of live sessions, recorded on a reel-to-reel audio tape recorder “Olimp-004s” at “Tokctoka Studio” in December 2006. The basic theme of this album is the memories about warm and starlit nights in August, when in a cold Baltic sky it is possible to observe lots of falling stars…

Revisit 0.90 Beta

Chris Nash writes:

Without any further ado, it is my pleasure to present reViSiT v0.90 Beta. Not much has changed since v0.89.5, save a minor aesthetic update (more rounded buttons, a new shade of blue), a few graphics glitches and a couple of minor bugs. This beta version, however, does usher some minor changes for the project itself:

  • reViSiT no longer requires registration. Although the download page still carries a form, it is now optional. The current priority is to get as many people using (and beta testing!) the program as possible - and hopefully providing feedback to ensure v1.0 is rock solid. You can still subscribe to the mailing list to stay apprised of new releases and important announcements.
  • reViSiT Professional Edition development has begun. The much-coveted surround sound and assignable output features are now under development. Testing of the Pro Edition will fall to a specially selected number of reViSiT testers, but I’ll be sure to keep the website and forum up-to-date with development news.
  • The nashNET Forum has been upgraded. The forum, which used to be provided by Aimoo.com, has now moved onto nashNET.co.uk and uses new, improved software. Your old messages and user accounts should still be there, of course, but over the coming months, I hope to add extra features to the forum for bug reporting and tracking, feature suggesting and voting, and so on.
